This is a basic book which collects the essential knowledge to begin the study of environment: basic ecological concepts to understand natural environment; geographical concepts which have reference to the rural environment and countryside; and urban concepts which are useful to approach the urban environment.

Secondary, the text presents an interdisciplinary approach for the analysis of the environmental problems, showing the role of the different perspectives (ethical, sociological, legal…) which is completed with a summary of the principal environmental problems which affect humanity.

Finally, the book gives advise about the educational treatment of theses problems, and for the design of environmental education programs.
